There will be no further extensions. If you submit your abstract by the due date, we will guarantee you receive the Earlybird registration rate for two weeks after the acceptance letter is sent, how to get it will be indicated in your notification of acceptance letter.
Abstract Submission
Types of Abstracts
The organising committee welcomes applications from anyone with an active research interest in mutation detection, registrants working on ANY organism are welcome, the meeting is NOT restricted to the human genome.
Registration and abstracts need to be sent by the closing date.
All abstracts will be peer reviewed by the Scientific Committee and authors will be notified of acceptance. Authors will be notified if they are presenting an oral or poster presentation. If you prefer a poster please indicate this when sending your abstract. All accepted abstracts will be published in the meeting programme book.
Guidelines for preparing abstracts

Please indicate if you prefer a poster presentation AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE. If you do not indicate this the abstract will be considered for an oral presentation by the scientific committee, however they may assign a poster presentation.
Maximum of 1 A4 page
2.5 cm margins
Font type = Arial
Headings should be bold and 14 point and small case letters
Text Font size = 11 point
Please do NOT justify the text.
Authors 11 point font. Put surname first followed by initials e.g. Petropouleas A.K. Please underline the presenting author.
Please give full addresses of all authors (without titles) after the heading.
Please indicate the name of the corresponding author by an asterisk*.
The Email of the corresponding author should be included below the addresses.
URLs of all databases referenced should be included.
We prefer that you do not include diagrams and tables.
Nomenclature for mutations must follow HGVS guidelines http://www.hgvs.org/mutnomen/
Nomenclature for genes must follow HGNC guidelines http://www.genenames.org/
Submission
Please make sure that your track changes are TURNED OFF before you save the abstract for sending.
Please save your abstract using THE PRESENTERS surname and first name initial.
e.g. Andreas Petropouleas' abstract would be "PetropouleasA.doc "

A submission may be made electronically only
Please include a small cover note in the email indicating which meeting the abstract is for (e.g., "I wish to submit this abstract for the Cyprus Mutation Detection Meeting"), cryptic messages or abstracts emailed with no note attached are unacceptable as they look like virus attachments and will not be opened. The recipient handles abstracts for other meetings so make sure you say which meeting the abstract is for!
If you have any problems let us know.
Please ensure you receive an acknowledgement after you have sent your abstract so you are sure it has been received, allow a couple of days. Regarding selection for presentation, if you do not hear back by end of March 2009 please make an enquiry as you may not have received the email notification.
Instructions for Posters
1. Design the Poster in Portrait format. Maximum poster dimensions are no larger than 85 cm wide 110 cm long. Please stick to this size limit or else your poster will be covered by your neighbour!
2. Posters should be mounted at the time of registration on the 28th May between 12.00 and 16.00. They will remain mounted for the duration of the meeting and can be taken down on the 1st of June.
Instructions for Oral Presentations
1. All presentations will be allocated a time limit including question time. Anyone going overtime will be CUT SHORT by the Chair so please keep to the time limit.
2. Only PowerPoint presentations are available, there will be NO slide or overhead projector available.
3. Acceptable formats for presentations are CD or USB memory stick. Speakers ARE NOT to expect to use their own laptop as this wastes a lot of time (unless pre-arranged for special reasons).
4. You MUST submit your presentation via EMAIL to Rania by 24th May (& bring a copy with you to the meeting). Rania will check slides work and load them into sessions on the computer. You can view them and check them at the meeting if you like. All slides will be kept confidential.
