Abstract Submission Detail

Your abstract should outline and summarize the work being presented. The organising committee welcomes applications from anyone with an active research interest in mutation detection, registrants working on ANY organism are welcome, the meeting is NOT restricted to the human genome.

Registration and abstracts need to be sent by the closing date. The deadline for abstract submission is 15th May 2010. We will now extend this to 31st May but there will be NO FURTHER EXTENSIONS AFTER THIS DATE!

All abstracts will be peer reviewed by the Scientific Committee and authors will be notified of acceptance. Authors will be notified if they are presenting an oral or poster presentation. If you prefer a poster please indicate this when sending your abstract. All accepted abstracts will be published in the meeting programme book.

Instructions for Preparing Abstracts

Please read the instructions below and follow carefully. Please indicate whether you prefer a poster presentation at the TOP OF THE PAGE. If you do not indicate this the abstract will be considered for an oral presentation by the scientific committee, however they may assign a poster presentation.

Maximum 1A4 page

2.5 cm margins

Do NOT justify the text

Font should be Arial

Heading should be bold & 14 point

Text Font size = 11 point

Authors 11 point font.

Put surname of authors first followed by initials

Please underline the presenting author

Please give full addresses of all authors (without titles) after the heading

Please indicate the name of the corresponding author by an asterisk*.


The Email of the corresponding author should be included below the addresses

URLs of all databases referenced should be included

We prefer that you do not include diagrams and tables.

Nomenclature for mutations must follow HGVS guidelines http://www.hgvs.org/mutnomen/

Nomenclature for genes must follow HGNC guidelines http://www.genenames.org/

Make sure your track changes were accepted and turned off before sending

Please save your abstract using THE PRESENTERS surname and first name initial.

e.g. Tasmin Devil's abstract would be "DevilT.doc "

e-mail your submission as an Word attachment to rania@gdrc.hfi.unimelb.edu.au

A submission may be made electronically only.

Please include a small cover note in the email indicating which meeting the abstract is for (e.g., "I wish to submit this abstract for the Mutation Detection Tasmania meeting"), cryptic messages or abstracts emailed with no note attached are unacceptable as they look like virus attachments and will not be opened. Please indicate which meeting the abstract if for as Rania accepts abstracts for many other meetings.

If you have any problems let us know.

Please ensure you receive an acknowledgement after you have sent your abstract so you are sure it has been received, allow a couple of days especially around the closing date when Rania will be travelling at another conference overseas.

ORAL PRESENTATIONS

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR ORAL PRESENTATIONS

1. All presentations will be allocated a time limit including question time. Anyone going overtime will be CUT SHORT so please keep to the time limit.

2. Only PowerPoint presentations are available, there will be NO slide or overhead projector available.

3. Acceptable format for presentations is a USB memory stick. Speakers ARE NOT to expect to use their own laptop as this wastes a lot of time.

4. You MUST either submit your presentation via EMAIL to rania@gdrc.hfi.unimelb.edu.au by 28th July 2010 (& bring a copy) OR DELIVER your presentation at the registration desk during the Registration & Welcome Reception.

POSTER PRESENTATIONS

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR POSTERS

1. Posters should be designed in "Portrait" format. Maximum poster dimensions are no larger than 90 cm wide 110 cm long. Please stick to this size limit or else your poster will be covered by your neighbour!

2. Posters should be mounted at the time of registration.
